Göta Canal Swim 2025
We will celebrate our 28th anniversary Saturday, the 2nd of August 2025.
What makes it even more enjoyable is that Göta Canal celebrated its 200th anniversary three years ago.
The competitions takes place in a historic construction site, keep this in mind while swimming in Göta Canal!

The Göta Canal Swim is organized by six associations in Sjötorp: ELLESS IF (Lyrestad - Sjötorps Sports Association, The Community Association, the Bygdegårds association, the Boat Club, the Sailing Association and the Slupen Association.

..Our different races in 2025
- 5,000 meters ICA OXEN OPEN. Competition classes for Women and Men. A license for Open water competition is required.

- 5,000 meters ICA OXEN OPEN. Exercise classes for women and men, begins in the upper harbor pool at 5:30 PM at Café Baltzar on the quay. Five ascents at the locks. Closing time at 7:15 PM at the 6th lock after about 3,500 m.

- 1,550 m ICA Oxenloppet Women's and Men's class. Start lock 6 at 5:30 PM. 2 ascents

- 600 m Women's and Men's class. Start old Magasinet at 5:30 PM 1 ascent

- 200 m Children and family distance. No timing. Start lock 2 at 5:15 PM

Check-in takes place 15 minutes before the competition begins!
All races except 200 meters (5:15) start at the same time with a cannon salute from one of Baltzar von Platen's old cannons at 5:30. Those who are swimming 5000 meters swim in the opposite direction, up the canal on the left side to turn at the designated buoy just before the 7th lock, then back to and finish at the sea lock like all other races.

Safety
Medical staff at the ascents and finish line. Medical van, support boats and staff, who are deployed along the swimming route. For those who take medication, it is important that you take care of this before the race or that you have someone who can help you if necessary. Furthermore, you should feel completely healthy. It is of course important to train before the race.

If the competition has to be cancelled due to extraordinary circumstances (force majeure), we reserve the right to keep 50 percent of the registration fee.

The secretariat in Sjötorps Båtklubb's premises:
Registration and distribution of swimming caps and start envelopes, late registration, information, etc.
A good parking for competitors is behind the building

Opening hours at our secretariat:
The competition day at 12.00 - 15.00 (12-3pm) for late registration and at 12.00 - 16.00 (12-4pm) for already registered participants. Note! If you arrive later, you risk not being allowed to start!
After the swim, there is coffee/drinks and a sandwich at the secretariat, which is included in the entry fee. Others (non-participants) pay 20:-. Everyone who completes 200 m will receive the Simborgarmärket!

The prizeceremony will take place at 20:00, the location will be announced later, we will also present what prizes that will be handed out to the first three in each race.
